Do you know if PaineWebber is still laying people off. I noticed a job posting by PaineWebber and I'd like to apply, yet given the uncertainty caused by the latest round of layoffs I am not sure if I need to pursue this opportunity. I know that this board is more oriented towards UBS and less towards PaineWebber layoffs, yet I thought that I might find someone here who would have some insight into what's going on at PaineWebber. Thank you in advance!

Things are still good, wait until the next recession comes everyone will be singing a different tune. UBS is making money now and all is rosy but at first sign of trouble RIFs will be flying left and right.
I think it's fairly stable at PaineWebber now. My wife works there, I think the main cuts are over for 2014. Not sure about 2015 though.
