I know some are saddened and some people are scared, but is it wrong that I am elated that this is all taking place?

As a former adjunct who got the boot without warning after last term, I'm not enjoying the collapse necessarily. But I am enjoying not working for that CCI school anymore!!! Weekends off. No more worries about getting fired if too many students quit. Spending 8 hours every Monday doing Outreach. And for what? Shit money. Shit hours. A few days off every 12 weeks. Between final grades and prepping classes, we didn't even get a full week off after end of term. I got in and didn't realize how bad it got. And then they did me the biggest favor ever. And now I have a new, better paying, realistic hours gig. And I just come back here to see when the last column falls.
You certainly didn't mind the pay check. Do what makes you the most comfortable. You are in the same sinking boat. Take a look at yourself as part of the problem, or play poor me the victim....
uh, no?
nobody cared nothin about the collapse.
OP: Of course it is fine to be elated at the failing of an abomination! Please consider:
The collapse of communism;
The prohibition of children working in coal mines at the age of 8;
The defeat of fascist Germany in WW2;
The conviction of Al Capone;
... the list goes on. CCi will be gone soon, and America will be better off for it. And of course the business books will make a case study of this so Jack, Bill, Beth, Bob, etc. will go down in history (or maybe even behind bars) as the incompetent fools they are.
as always. education is set up to fail for those who want to change their lot in life.
The problem is the governments policies around student debt. Those who are underpriviledged end up having to pay higher interest rates due to their credit. They want an education but it's not because of the education that's killing them… it's the interest rates on how student loans are set up.
something to think about. We all know that for profit schools service the under privileged. Because those who are privileged go where? Traditional Schools. That demographic are slated to succeed because of their upbringing,education status, etc. Our students need more help, encouragement, hand holding at times. But they have to learn to help themselves as well. I had a 178k student debt. It took me 28 years to pay it off.
It isn't wrong. CCI is the worst company in America. It treats its students like cattle, employees like shit, and has no regard for anything..even today. Sorry CCI dreamers, your demise is a net benefit to society. The days of diploma mills screwing the government is coming to an end.
Anonymous37961- Some schools actually provide value for the cost, debt.
All students are now akin on high debt, whether for profit or non profit.
From the perspective of an online adjunct, I think it's good to be thankful that these students will no longer be getting themselves into further debt for courses that are too challenging and unmotivating for them.
it is. Nobody wins. Students, Graduates, Good Employees.
Former Admissions- Let me guess, you didn't smile correctly, or something. Yes, I know all about it, and I'm enjoying it as much as you. Maybe more.
