Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Tampa SDO announces closure in January sometime?

Not surprising cause management would kiss corporates ass so much and create cost as opposed to saving it. Road-net is a complete joke as well as having an off-site TA. Supervisor spent too much time trying to get rid of quality drivers rather than helping with getting packages delivered! Overkill with the micro-management philosophy and following policy to the extreme. Trust your workforce and have our back and maybe you wouldn't have had a divided clubhouse! Too much retaliation towards employees. Karma???

Called Corporate HR on Supervision and all they did was sweep it under the rug. Mr. Baldy from Framingham seems to think this guy is an angel and can't be to blame for his threats and lack of leadership. And the fat guy in this building is afraid of him as well. We all know your antics and your ego is running out! Enjoy your three day weekends!

Busted my tail for that company and all I wanted was to work eight hours then go home. I didn't want the overtime. I changed routes then a four ten route was available but the management said I had to wait a year before I could switch. They hired an inexperienced driver so I quit. Tried to help save them money and this is the way they run things. Stupid is what stupid does.

Does this mean we aren't going to get our $10 gift card from Wal-Mart for Christmas?

Just heard from one of my drivers that he met a 3rd party vendor at one of his stops. His truck was loaded with staples product. We were not on the list of 12. But it looks like we will be on the net wave.

In response to #38929 I remember working at that location when the "incident" occurred. That is how they really treat the workers! What's really sad is it was said in front of the main guy from Miami and yet nothing was ever done to the one accused of the threat. Tampa's transportation dept. has always been the talks around the water cooler!

Everybody needs to stop calling each other LOSERS and D-BAGS because at the end of the day we all bought into the Staples kool-aid and we are all getting bent over. So as Rodney Kings says, Can we all just get along!!! We are all losing our jobs, that includes fat SDO managers, supervisors, and drivers. Well, i goota go. I still have 23 stops left. Be breazy!!!

Incredible. I left a couple of years ago and it was obvious that there was a major problem between management and the drivers. I feel bad for both parties involved cause now everyone is in the same boat. Sounds like the friction reached an all time high. Both are to blame but from my experience a lot was taken too personal from management. Just my opinion. A lot more should have been done to fix the problem. Still gonna miss a lot of great people. Good luck in the future!

Whatever. If the decision has already been made, then it's over. Trying to figure out how long this has been in the works, or who already knows what's going to happen or what the factors were leading up (who was to blame) to it aren't going to change anything. If the decision has already been made, it seems silly now to complain about fellow employees (whatever their rank in the structure): nobody at any time pointed a gun at anybody's head and made them stay with the company. It's just a job. Do what's best for yourself. Bail and get another job if that's what you need to do. Stick it out to the end in hopes that the severance/settlement package is decent if you choose. Hold you head up in any event and realize that if you honestly know you did the best job you could the layoff was something at a local level you had no control over, salaried or hourly.

All you negative people r ridiculous. You all probably were dishonest workers, wanted something for nothing, and probably "messed" around when you were not supposed to. Get a life D bags. talk about "Karma".....yeah, your right. And it will catch up with you slackers eventually, so just keep fng off and see what happens. You will never be happy anywhere bcuz you are unhappy with life in general. "Think about it"....LOSERS.

I am glad I don't work for this company anymore. I love my job and am rewarded. I have 10 employee of the months in 3 years. I have never been noticed in tampa although my #s were off the charts. I completed every rt I did with little to no training. Mgmt has vendettas out for people they don't like. I was threatened by my supvr, while the main guy in miami was in the office along with mgr, nothing was done. I knew my days were numbered when he became the supv. I requested the other supv to be my supvr but was declined by the mgr and 3 days later I was let go, then tried to say insubordination which they lost and I got back pay on from unemployment. I got a job with this company after 1 mo. Karma is a bitch as the supvr lost his wife and changed his life, and went home and tore his house apart, cops were called and he still works their. Hopefully all those mfers will lose their job.

HR was always on the side of the company. Sorry missy but December 19th is Judgement day! The I matter program is a slap in the face. If "I mattered" then you would allow me to make an honest living and be successful financially so I can take care of my family. Instead you have to keep taking money from us to benefit yourselves. And the Manager can never make a decision without referring to the corporate owners manual!

Everybody knows it's coming. The cat is out of the bag, regardless of an official announcement having been made or not. The amazing thing is some people who really ought to know better are still making noises that sound like whistling past the graveyard, hoping that the present system will survive in some form. In a weird way, it would be better to get it over with in mid/late Jan 2015 post-peak, while the company is still solvent enough to provide semi-decent severance packages. It feels like the longer the inevitable is delayed, the better the chance that the severance packages will be shrunk as the company continues to shrink.

The management is what was always bringing down the whole operation with their high school click mentality and superiority complex. favoritism abounds in that location and ultimately brought down the whole place.

Staples are a bunch of Mother F@#*ers they changed the whole culture after they bought out CE. I got out a year ago after 20 years total with the company. There policy and proceedures were stupid. It was a no when for the drivers. To all my friends that still work in Tampa. Im sorry to see yall going through this. As for all others, good luck and things do get better.

Sorry guys, this was planned long ago, but at least you're liberated of this company's nauseating practices. I am sorry though, we are like trees on a logging site, the axe is coming for all of us.

Tampa sounds a lot like the SDO i am in. You wouldn't believe what our manager focuses on. It will only be a matter of time before all the SDO's go 3rd party. I will have to start over, and that's okay. I will enjoy watching managers scramble like rats on a sinking ship to save their positions. Look out FC's I am sure you will see SDO managers trying to take over your spot !!!
