Attendance fraud? Where do you/did you work? I can't imagine this happening at any of the campuses I have worked for.

27889, HLC's issue is not with ECP, it is with CCi. HLC can't stand CCi but have rewarded ECP for the significant changes that have been made.

27889, the big issue was the crossover. From 2006-2009 they had EUO and ECP students in the exact same classes, same instructors, etc. HLC gave them a time table to stop doing that which ECP did. You are correct that they do not want students from EUO to be in current classes with ECP. However, HLC does not set transfer credit standards, the institution does. If ECP makes it easy for EUO students to transfer to ECP up to a % of their classes (either 50% or 75%, I forget, then they can do so. EUO has many programs ECP does not have so there are limits to who could transfer over.

On e a potential buyer finds the attendance fraud at ECPO, it will likely fall apart. It is due rely related to FA funding, so there is likely a criminal element there.

27889 - with all of the bad publicity, regional accreditation will be going away no matter what happens.

I used to be with ECP and am now with EUO. If I recall correctly, the regional accrediting agency threatened to revoke ECP's regional accreditation if they didn't get rid of all the junk now associated with EUO. That's when most students were transferred from ECP to EUO. If anyone has more precise information, please correct me.

Anonymous27874- As long as both are owned by a single corporation there is no FERPA violation. Everest can talk to Heald or Wyotech without any FERPA violation, on the "need to know basis" as always.

Students can’t just be transferred over. That violates FERPA. They are independent institutions. Plus, because of the different accreditation, transferring credits could get really messy. Not only are accreditations different, so are OPEID’s.

I heard they are going to try to sell them together so the new owner could transfer all students over to regional accreditation once the sale is final... Can they do that??

Agreed with 27869. EUO has the advantage of a larger student population and more program offerings. ECP has the advantage of regional accreditation. If they were bought together, each accreditation agency would want to see detailed plans for how they will be operated separately. The fact that they were not operated separately in 2007-2010 is part of what caused ECPO's issues with HLC.

Not likely, since the accreditation bodies are different. Transferring schools to a new owner is not an easy thing.
