LA Times: Corinthian Colleges tells investors it is facing a criminal probe

"Jenkins, the Corinthian spokesman, said none of the ongoing investigations have proven "systemic wrongdoing or company-wide failure to comply with laws and regulations."

"There has been no finding by any court of law that Corinthian has failed to meet any of its legal or regulatory obligations to students," he added."

705: Former exec NA ("dog food lady" if you need another clue) was infamous for those, especially if it had anything to do with 90/10. We've done some darned shady things, and I have no doubt that some of it was criminal. It's about time ED and the states started protecting the taxpayers' money.

just a clue to y'all from a whistleblower. The feds (and state AGs) are VERY interested in any topic that CCi pulled the "no written record" trick with. In student finance, that's been happening for years, and I've heard it happens in other departments. If you are told on a call that a topic should only be discussed on the phone and not in emails, there's a reason. It's something illegal and CCi management knew it.

Seriously, how hard is it to prove the obvious about these for profit schools?? They ALL slam as many "students" into their "programs" so they can collect the government loans these people take out so they can pay investors. The "students" end up loosing in the end, most don't graduate and they pay 3 TIMES what the value of the degree is. The DOE, Congress, and each and every single accrediting agency (HLC, WAC, COE, ACICS, MSE,) and ALL the accreditation agencies that allow these scam for profit schools to use Title 9 funds, should be brought up on criminal charges. NOBODY is looking out for the people who are getting screwed out of thousands of dollars.

Cutting pay 10%, forced time off without pay, Lay offs, no merit/bonuses, benefits reduced. This still will not pay all the legal bills to keep officers of CCi from facing criminal charges. CCi is drowning with mounting legal troubles each month. They have already spent millions. How much more can employees, staff and students face in pay cut's and loss of services?

1: Allow ANYONE into ANY program they want.

2: Establish expectations on attrition, placements, etc. that cannot possibly accomplished operating ethically given pillar #1.

3: Establish a culture that says "if you don't get caught, you're not doing anything wrong"

4: Refuse to do any meaningful monitoring of campus activities related to making their numbers

5: Rake in money using students as a tool to bilk taxpayers

6: When caught, ELT just say "We didn't know that was happening at the campus level... we're not responsible."

Of course "there has been no finding..." Findings come AFTER investigations. Duh!

Classic CCi ELT! No 'systemic wrong doing'. Yup, keep up that plausible degree of deniability, Jack. And he keeps wondering why ED does not trust CCi. Damn!
