The first are stipend students, those who want money and have no intention of going to school. The second are those who should never have been admitted, because their reading and writing skills are not adequate for college classes. (Although our curriculum is not really at a college level.) either way, I spend so much time doing Outreach, I don't have much time to teach, much less give my students a HS education, plus the education they aren't prepared for. It's just a travesty. Nobody wins. Except those who have good recruiting numbers and those who make bank. It falls on the low paid instructors to foot the blame for students' failures. At least they try. I don't listen to the bullying that it's my fault. It's simply not.

You just described 85% of our students........I am not necessarily blaming admissions. They don't create admissions standards (or the lack thereof). They have numbers to hit to avoid discipline or edismissal, and the market is such that there are simply not enough quality students for all of the available schools.
