Camden, buddy... You and I have a very different view of how the world works. I asked you for proof of ANY of your "isms" and still haven't seen it. I don't really see anything I wrote that could possibly be construed to mean that I agree with your assertion of racism at Apollo. Let me explain what I mean by evidence or proof. Let's use your school for example (Camden County College). According to the statistics provided by the state of New Jersey, your school has a three year graduation rate of 13.6%. That means that the VAST majority of students at the school YOU teach at do not graduate with a two-year degree within three years. Even if you factor in the transfer rates to bachelor programs at other schools, it's still only 30%. And black students are three times less likely to graduate than white students at Camden. And if we look at the financials for your school, students received over 23 million dollars in Pell grants according to a story in USA Today. And your director of financial aid was even quoted in the story saying that students are sometimes reckless with the aid they get, as well as stating that the school has no control over how the students spend the funds. Add that to the 20+ million dollars in direct payments from the state and county and that makes up the majority of the school's budget. So, let me ask you... How do you feel about teaching at a school with a graduation rate that is even lower than the San Diego UoP campus? And one that would apparently fail to meet the very same standards that you advocate enforcing on UoP? Isn't that a bit hypocritical?? And does the disparity between graduation outcomes for white and black students mean that there is institutional racism on your campus?

You MUST work for UOP! If so, you must not have been an employee very long. I worked there for almost 10 years and saw so much unethical behavior. When I brought it to HR attention, on several accounts, NOTHING was changed about the situation!

And to your original claims, do I think there might be racists, homophobes, anti-semites, misogynists, etc at UoP? Sure. In a company of over 15,000 employees, I don't know how you could possibly avoid some people who are less than stellar. But to claim institutional discrimination is a pretty big leap that I believe deserves a healthy dose of skepticism. So let me be clear, I am NOT "challenging" you here, I am genuinely curious and would love to hear any evidence with an open mind.

Interesting that someone took my comment to your other thread and posted it separately (and incorrectly claimed that I work in enrollment).

Oh well. Doesn't it seem that a lot of the anger and accusations being levied at the schools is misplaced? If the education provided by the schools is so bad, why aren't people like Senator Harkin going after the accreding body that signed off on them? Isn't that the point of requiring accreditation for access to Title IV funds? How about investigating whoever blessed CCI? Otherwise we will be forever stuck playing "whack-a-mole" with a patchwork of regulations that will increase the cost to those doing things correctly, while the bad actors keep finding ways to sidestep them.

Didn't the HLC just finish renewing UoP's accreditation? Yes they were put "on notice" but that seems like a pretty weak sanction if this school is indeed as bad as everyone claims.

Community Colleges cost a fraction of what for profit schools charge, leaving most students without a credential, sure, but also without burdensome debt.

If for profit schools wish to survive, they need to have entrance standards and measurable outcomes. Not everyone should go to college.

Most of these diploma mills will be cut down to size for the scams they have become.

@by The Fact Is! (Enrollment), I agree with much of what you have to say and your facts are correct. I'm afraid that more community colleges will be like University of Phoenix as they practice the business model (and funds are cut). In fact, University of Phoenix gets many of its students from Camden County College and other community colleges. I have discussed several disturbing trends with officials at the public schools where I work.
