Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Things looking up for CCi

So we have now been paid multiple times, there have been no lay-offs, and rumors are swirling of multiple buyers. The cost-cutting moves were obviously designed to save jobs. I could be wrong but I think the worse is over. If we can just hang on I think most of us will make it through this. I'm not saying people still shouldn't update their resume, only that the chances of a major layoff get smaller with each passing day.

Crossing my fingers!

Hmmmm, let's recap last week's events, shall we. Announcement of paycuts and then meetings canceled, quiet from management. Increasingly intense pressure on instructors to perform more and more outreach in a desperate attempt to hold onto the few students we have left (and their fed dollars). We know the company was in a dire financial situation before ED got involved, and that quite a few Attorneys General are suing us as well. Two states have forbid us from enrolling. Congress has strongly recommended that we stop enrolling overall. Press coverage has been massive and abysmal. Right, the worst is over. CCi can, somehow, someway, survive this! You're delusional.

I have to agree w/ 38. Stock price is 16 cents a share, and hit new 52 week lows last week. If things were anything but dismal, this would not be the case.

I don't know which is scarier: that people continue to enroll in our schools, or that emotes think everything is still fine, despite an announced sale/closure if CCI schools. People are so, so stupid.

Canceling staff meetings is a good sign since when?

I think the silence is frightening. Terrifying. It's NEVER good news when management and leadership goes radio silence. And it's been very quiet since paycuts were announced.

The absence of specifically bad news is not in itself good news. Every day that goes by without a sale is one more day of cash burned and declining revenue, and one day closer to a major layoff or complete shutdown. Is the glass half full or half empty? I say 3/4 empty with a leak.

There are no buyers. Paycuts were, what, a week

Ago? You are stupid.

You are delusional, just like management and PDs. Ship is sinking and they think you care about not meeting outreach numbers on your evaluation. Potentially no classes for you next term. Yeah there won't be any classes for anyone anyway!

You're stupid. CCI schools will either sell or go to teach out. They've told us this. And if they do sell, there is no guarantee you will be hired by new company or get a salary near what you have, even with the paycut. The worst is not over. But keep feeling it is. I need the jump on my job hunt.

Oh please stop ! This company will not survive! You have the option to stay and go down with the ship!

Why do you want to work for such a LOSER? Do you have battered employee syndrome? Or just a Stepford employee? I sad that you are so desperate. Good luck Pollyanna.

Nice to see someone on this board not predicting imminent doom for everyone, but the employees and campuses are far from out of the woods. If CCi cannot sell ECP or Heald the other schools stand little chance of making it. Those are the two regionally accredited schools. If the starts continue to be far off I could see consolidation of campuses or programs in schools within reasonable proximity (less than an hour) which would mean more locations shut down.

CCi has to make it long enough to sell Heald.

Nope, once the Heald sale will determine everything. I gauge we are about 2 weeks out from hearing the news then the next wave of rumors will start. We are not out of the woods yet.
