Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Ready To Go

I despise my job at Staples. It's difficult because I am not ungrateful for the opportunities I have been given, but rather sad by the direction and management style of the company. I recognize that my future in niche retail is facing its obsolescence daily. I desire nothing more than a stable alternative facilitated by a graceful bankruptcy. Just something to sustain me through my exit.

Same here at home office, major reductions achieved by an automated system. How long until the internal culture is depleted that the company becomes fragile and finally filters.

My retail friends I can tell you the mood on the commercial side is equally depressing. Longtime Staples employee and I work in Pricing (Bids). Cross referencing of competitive data is done by an overseas company called UGAM based in India. We are also be rolling out pricing tool by a company called Vendavo. Once this is in place I see it being a matter of time before my job and others in the department are gone. Unfortunately I am part of the majority in this thinking.

I agree...used to enjoy working at Staples. It is sad that they take everything away from the stores, payroll hours, Spiffs, associate fund money to have store events, adequate raises and bonuses, yet the execs get the same benefits or more they always had.
