A serious question: who works at UBS? Its been like what, 7 years of non stop bad news. What makes some 22 year old think "well, after all that utter shit and mediocrity, I am sure ILL live the models and bottles life style I read about on wso"

Well, it all depends what you what from your new job. If you'd like to learn and prep for the next role, you are at the right place - you will learn for sure, you just need to stay focused on your job and what UBS needs from you and you'll be fine. Do not let yourself get distracted by all noise that will be surrounding you - yes, there will be girls and booze but you need to stay focused on your work and keep in mind, at some point, you need to go out and find yourself a job that will use your skills but will not be as intense as your gig at UBS. Remember, it's very hard for anyone to sustain the high pace UBS expects from you, so, learn and take off in about 3 to 5 years.
You will work like a dog, you will be treated like a dog and you will be laid off like dog. It's simple like that...
Do you really know what you are talking about? Models and bottles? You will be working your ass off, we'll waive a big ass monetary carrot in front of your nose you donkey... You'll never reach it, you'll hear stories about Models and Bottles, but you will not have time for either as you'll be working 100 hours / week for about a decade. Then we'll fire you, you'll go to a mid tier firm, the carrot will be much smaller but the donkey will finally get something to eat. But a condo in Jersey, get a wife, she'll still bitch about long hours, your kids will grow up without you at home, and they they will fire you again. By that time, it'll be too late for a new start and you'll end your career at some random place far away from UBS and bottles and models. Sorry, that's how it works for real.
