Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

reply to 15733

The disparagement between for profit and community colleges is not that community colleges do not find their graduates jobs-----it is that for profit colleges like CCI assure high paying jobs while charging more than 10x more in tuition. The glamorous high paying careers do not materialize and students are left with significant debt while someone else in the school prospers.

15785: interesting point, but are we to believe for-profit students will succeed in Community College? These trade schools server a general purpose to train people in what their interested in, many don't have the discipline of 2yrs in general-ed classes that the CC require.

Anonymous15797- Do tell, which CC receives no more taxpayer support than for-profit?

Tuition is not always subsidized at community colleges. And it's less and less as of late.

Can you please show me where you get the 10X more in tuition? If you are comparing to a community college tuition than you must have forgotten that state and community colleges are subsidized by the state taxpayers. Therefore the tuition cost is about the same.
