SAVE THE NURSING PROGRAM!!

As a student, reading this forum has been heartbreaking to say the least. I feel for my instructors and the other employees of Everest who have been dedicated in giving us a quality education but for thoses on here who never believed or cared about the students (trust me,we know who you are. it doesn't take a rocket scientist to notice insincerity in someone)... Good riddance. Like you, I am on edge and nervous about what is to come but I will not give up without a fight. I believe in my program and my fellow students deserve the right to graduate

-14984 don't be upset because I called you out for giving terrible advice.. You are really the pot calling the kettle black. The reputation of the school probably the way it is because of people like you... If you are not proud of Everest, why do you work there? As for myself and my fellow students, we can just change the name to whatever school is going to buy our school... But for you....What makes you think people are going to want to hire YOU after they see that the EVEREST YOU WORK FOR was so under performing that it shut down? Shame on you.

14178 - and your a fool to think an employer doesn't care where you graduate from. Trust me as soon as they see Everest on your resume they'll pass you up! I never said the nursing program wasn't successful .. But then again how successful is an nursing program if the DOE shuts it down along with every program on campus...Good Luck!

I'm crossing my fingers everyday because of the mismanagement of funds by the corporation. I am confident that it will be saved but I am the type to plan for the worst just in case. I believe that Corinthian colleges is a business first, and a school second.. But that doesn't take away the dedicated teachers and staff who have made the last 2 years worthwhile.

In response to 14184- you must not realize how successful the RN program really is. Employers don't care so much where you graduate, but your licensure and how well you present in the interviews. You're a fool to tell theses students to DROP the program because there are thousands of qualified students ready to take his/her spot at the drop of a hat.

There are many of us who still care. There are over 12k employees nationwide, this is just a handful of idiots playing in the devil's workshop...don't listen to them any more. Continue your education. You can choose to be a part of the teach out, or go to another school, but please continue on.

I do not believe that the U.S. Department of Education will allow the doors to be locked and students left out in the cold - that would mean that they have failed to do their duty and look out for students. You may be involved in a teach out (in which CCi makes arrangements for you to complete your academic program at a nearby school) or you may find your school is sold and has a new owner. But you will not be stranded.

I wish you the best of luck! I can tell that 14184 is a committed instructor who cares about the students. It's nice to see someone giving good, practical advice on this site instead of just trashing the company. Be proactive and follow that advice and you should be fine. Finally, don't let ANYTHING stop you from attaining your goal. Good luck!!

Go to your registrar and request several copies of your official transcripts once we close it 'll be nearly impossible for you to obtain anything. I get you are scared but be smart and start looking for a better school. Talk to your campus president request a tuition refund and a drop with no charge.. If he doesn't see you contact corporate at 7144273000 file a student complaint. Remember to get whatever they promise you in writing. Get out while you can. If you stay there and graduate, you'll likely not get any help studying for your state boards since we'll likely ( hopefully) not exist. Ask yourself one question - do you really want to tell a possible employer you are an Everest grad? With all this drama they'll likely not hire you. Save yourself! Get a lawyer if possible. Just whatever you do if you do get a lawyer do not mention it to the campus nor corporate. Good luck!

I hope they save the nursing program. As a veteran who took my pre-requisties in the state of GA at REGIONALLY ACCREDITED JC, I moved to CA only to find out the non-profit schools wouldn't accept my transcripts. Everest is the only school to date that will accept my classes. I wouldn't mind retaking the courses at a CA CC, but then I run the risk of exhausting my entire GI BILL and being denied entry into a nursing program. (Part of why I moved to CA was partly because I didn't make it into nursing school when I applied in GA.) I have a 3.6 GPA, and am a conscientious student. I even got my CNA after being denied entry to RN school the first time round. I work at a local community hospital on the MedSurg unit and KNOW I would make an exceptional RN, if only given the opportunity. Now, I may have to switch my field altogether. This comes after two tours in Iraq, motivated by the fact that if I made it out relatively unscathed, I would have my GI BILL to create a promising future, while serving people. I'm on pins and needles.
