Things are not looking so good for Heald right now. With the CCI 4th floor people running everything into the ground. Heald used to be a great school .... now.... not so much.

Did they close up Heald's? Is this today?

"I hear"...that those posting don't know a great deal. It is easy to speculate, but at this point, DOE and COCO are hush. They have to be. Any leak would be insider trading and could lead to stock fluctuations and possibly blowing a deal in the works. I can say that having worked in capital management that private equity will most certainly purchase Heald. There is simply too much value and very little risk. Price will depend on how much DOE wants to link the Everest debacle to Heald. I would assume that Heald has connections in SF so they can call in favors from Senators Boxer and Fienstein.
Actually, if Heald is sold, the current and pending lawsuits stay with CCI making Heald much more attractive to a potential buyer. I think Heald will be sold. Most people in education remember what a good school it was pre-CCI.
The news is not helping enrollments. Moreover, the news is running off current students. July is the biggest start of the year with all the high school kids coming in. This should be the lowest July start on record.
Here is another thing to think about. CCI sold most campus buildings, and all of Healds. Heald now has lease payments on all campus buildings. Now, IF CCI were to sell Heald, they sell the brand. The brand comes with students (what few that are left), employees, accreditation, lawsuits, and the tarnished reputation. In short, Heald is not worth what CCI paid (350M loan from B of A, which CCI is in default) way back when. This means CCI would have to sell at a loss. This would be the best thing to happen for Heald I think. The question is, can CCI keep it together long enough for that to happen? With all the bad press Heald student count is going to drop like a rock as we know. I am guessing some of the Heald campuses may close before the brand can be sold. In addition WASC has to approve the sale.
It looks like private equity will take over Heald. They may stay this way given that publicly traded for-profits are in Sec. Duncan's sights for a while.
I hear some of the Heald campuses will close after the teach out.
