Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Socle

Quite a few people seem to think that the reason we're seeing all the irrelevant old posts is because of Socle. For those who don't know, Socle is a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of CCi that sells financial aid services to other schools (I know - of all things!). They apparently do not want their clients finding out that Socle = CCi. These bizarre strings of meaningless posts do seem to occur after a post about Socle. It's probably not a coincidence.

That's one reason CCi has no working capital. Over the past few years they have dumped hundreds of millions of dollars into these spin off companies. How many call centers have they started and closed at the cost of millions. Now they start TNT which in just another call center and wasted millions on it. Then Socle comes along, more millions. CCi is so perfect working with student loans it decides they can make money getting government cash for other schools, hahaha. If the company would have put all this money and effort into educating the students they may still be operating. Socle may survive, but it will be difficult without their biggest client, themselves.

That is weird. Maybe someone needs to make sure SOCLE needs to stay at the top of the boards! The media is keeping an eye on this board. So it's possible some looney tune is just trying to make a point to the media that makes no sense and is clearly not an employee, just some political ranter.

Even if Socle tricked a few schools, is the issue really that big? Simply put, I don't find Socle to be that big of a deal. Looks like a anthill to me, but maybe I'm wrong. Maybe Socle is up to molehill status?

Are Socle's clients so clueless that they don't know they are dealing with a CCI subsidiary?

It won't save the company or any of its employees, but our managers believe it will. That is, as long as the clients don't figure out that we're CCi, because they are state and Christian schools and won't be associated with scandal. That's why they keep freaking out.

There are plenty of Socle posts in the history, going back to December/January. I really don't find Socle that interesting, but it might be a bigger issue than my current interest. The bottom line is that Socle is not some silver bullet to all the problems. Sure contacting students to let them know about all the terms of the federal student loans is prudent business, but why is that so special? What makes Socle's ability to process student loans any better than other large schools? Also while Socle might be able to sell itself today, it can only do so to schools that already have problems. Maybe if I were a Socle employee I'd view all this differently, but CCi still makes its money from its students, not financial aid processing. Furthermore, Socle will fall with CCi. I highly doubt that Socle is going to save the rest of CCi.

Some background from other strings that got pushed to the second page very suddenly: "Socle is incorporated as a wholly owned and operated subsidiary of CCi. It started with Student Financial Services in 2009 or 2010, which was a CCi department in Tampa that took over behind-the-scenes financial aid processing from Global Financial. They changed their name in 2013 to distance themselves from CCi to facilitate hoodwinking….er, obtaining outside clients for their services. They are in the same address/location and have the same leadership/management team as they had before. Socle = Corinthian Colleges."
