"Just this week, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington raised questions about how much Robert Shireman, who is under investigation by the Department of Education's Office of Inspector General, was involved in drafting the new rule. Shireman is accused of violating ethics laws by discussing sensitive government information with an outside agency while he was deputy undersecretary during Obama's first term. Yet he's emerged again as one of the most vocal advocates for Gainful Employment.

Anonymous22821: Passed into law? When did Congress pass it and the President sign it? You do know that only Congress can pass federal laws. It is a rule not law and it isn't finalized. God damn how stupid you people are.

I'm a mere adjunct instructor. But from my point of view, how can we ethically allow students to go into debt without providing them with an education that is likely to lead them to gainful employment? It's not just the government that needs to hold us accountable for this, but also the national accrediting agency.

What do so many want to argue the basic idea that one day does not a placement make?

There have been way too many blatant violations of the law, and intent of the law, for CCi to be whining now. Admissions, placement, financial aid...you can only give the finger to the government and taxpayers so many times before they clamp down. And be clear on this, the gainful employment rules are something the vast majority of Americans support.
