Thread regarding Raytheon Co. layoffs

Nice to see they are still hiring interns and pushing some of the long term employees out the door, way to go

Indeed. Sure feels good and so easy to say now isn't it? Until it happens to you. And I assure you, if you remain at RTN it eventually will happen. Cheers!

I worked in Tucson, RMS plant for 8 years. I finally realized that I can't hang with corrupt managers and the politics that go on make DC seem like preschool. The culture is very cold and cut throat. I love how they are hiring new college grads, but yet are laying off their experienced workers. The moral over there is at an all time low b/c many good performers have been laid off b/c the politics weren't on their side.

Got to admit, some of the older people are really "dead wood", but its only a small minority. Raytheon dumps the older people for economic reasons: young are cheaper, mostly quicker, get sick less, no pension rights, mostly newer technology familiarity, and they can be molded easier. But, it does seem like company practices pseudo age discrimation that is awfully hard to orove in court. They even make the older guys that take VLOs offered to older people sign not to sue or else their severance is in jeapordy. Many big businesses do the same so Raytheon is not breaking new ground.
