Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Are all staples employees this bad?

Well, it's good to see you've all hit the job market. Our organization has been the unfortunate benefactor of Staples layoffs. I'm here to tell you that it's no surprise you folks failed miserably at keeping staples alive. If these folks we have are any indication of management, I feel for each and every one working at Staples. Instead of working towards a brighter tomorrow, these geniuses have decided to bring in all of the technologies that have decidedly worked so well for you at Staples. They've also decided to decide these things in a vacuum. I don't know who's worse here, us for hiring these folks from a sinking ship that they likely poked a hole in, or them for coming here to do the exact same thing that got them into the mess from where they came.

Got out a couple of years ago. I was there for 13 years. The 401 k plan only showed a profit of those years, and it was very little increase at that. I tried to move the investments around and always came up losing. As for working there, the only thing that keeps you there is to sell extended warranties. Any week you don't perform, you either get written up or have your hours cut. In my store, I was one of the few that left on my terms. The last manager came in and replaced all employees except me. Trying to achieve a better position was suicide. During my 13 years, I saw 6 district managers, 15 general managers and 22 assistant managers come and go. I am so glad I am out and now in a better place.

Ah, management from my former now-defunct company probably went to Staples. After destroying that one, they move on to the next. How long before they destroy yours?

As Deep Throat said, FOLLOW THE MONEY! Demos kept HIS stock but eliminated your bonus.... Retail is a bridge to get to the new plan. There is no belief that retail can be saved. Just bled long enough to get to a new company. There is no vision, no visionary leadership. Sad because Staples was sooo close to good to GREAT. The new paradigm is good to "ALSO RAN"... Might be the title of my book!

Sell the company to a private equity firm, eliminate a mismanaged corporate office, and see where the stores land, you may be pleasantly surprised with their success!

Framingham is a corrupted bunch of cadavers driving the company into the ground!

It's not the people at store level that are failing. It is Framingham.

So you are saying that several former Staples managers were hired at your company and you are not impressed? They are attempting to justify their new jobs by implementing Staples policies and procedures, and it's failing?

Interesting.....

Haha your eloquence is amazing! Your message is so ambiguous and incoherent it basically means nothing. But yes we all dislike Staples and its infatuation with self destruction!
