Who plays the race card the most around here?
I will respectfully disagree regarding the racism. Those people in the commercials are students and graduates. The point of the commercial is to say "Hey, I look like you, sound like you, have the same obstacles as you and I DID IT! You can do it, too." The Everest Dude (get off the couch guy) was apparently the cameraman. The graduate for that commercial was too nervous and the guy wanted to show him how it was done and the rest is Jerry Springer commercial break history. Now, CCI could care less about black, white or purple, the only color is GREEN. Because of the way the programs are priced, anyone who can qualify for max FA is the target "demographic"...That isn't Suzie MiddleClass...but it also isn't Kisha MiddleClass or Juan MiddleClass, for that matter. They have to much of a connection to money that has to come from their pockets and to many the concept of Financial Aid means they get to play with Uncle Sam's money whether it be in the form of a grant or a loan. Now, none of this is coming from the mouths of management to target anyone or in any training materials, it's just the way it is.
Dahn, for a purported sociologist, you lack some basic information about many of the terms you are throwing around. You also betray the fact that you are a classist by suggesting that there is a "class" upon which CCi "preys." Also, race, Dahn, is a social construct to begin with, and no fictitious entity or organization is capable of racism or classism. If you want to argue that people who run CCi prey upon the uninformed, perhaps your claims would have some credibility. The category of "uninformed" runs the gamut and is not nearly so judgmental.
@Anonymous9693, you may not be racist but the organization is. Of course, it is also classist, and preys upon working class people of all races and ethnicities. Everest predominantly for women, Wyotech predominantly for men.
The racism and classism are easy to see when you look at the Everest commercials on television. Simply do some categorizing, then count....http://www.ispot.tv/brands/dH0/everest-college
CCI is NOT racist... The only color it sees is green. Disadvantaged folk with limited options (real and perceived) come in all colors.
We be hatin' on the poo little black kids.
Corporations like Corinthian Colleges and Apollo Group are racist and classist. Although it's difficult to know who is speaking, my content analysis of commercials and worker posts indicates persistent racist and classist themes, wrapped in sarcasm. Apparently, workers and managers use sarcasm to deflect responsibility from this culture of hate.
Silly Gorilla. COCO is for ghetto kids.
