On the labor force

Camden Kid claims that the large investors, banks, will be controlling labor costs, yet at the same time there is a concern about compliance. My observation has been that CCi is not paying enough to attract good workers, and selecting 'yes' people. Alternatively, they are replacing higher-paid workers with lower-paid workers, but the lower-paid workers are over-paid, given the market conditions. The higher-paid workers, at least those with a Masters Degree or better, have left for much better opportunities, and many have proven that they were actually under-paid. So while they have workers who will try and jump when the word is called, these new workers don't know how to both jump and comply with rules and regulations at the same time. In other words, CCi is hiring $12 labor and paying $15, instead of the $25 that was earned by the experienced worker with the advanced degree. The $12 workers are very happy to earn $15, but inexperience and inability are catching up, so CCi simply turns them over. The labor market has a bunch of low-wage, low-skill workers that are lined up to earn the $15, and the cycle starts again. Yet upper management talks of "cost savings." I'm waiting to see Labor Ready workers staffing the organization. They generally jump when told to do so. Next let's turn to these so called "cost reductions," i.e. no one left to serve the students. What I am seeing is cuts in areas such as career services. Forget for a moment about the so-called quality of education problem, what happens when the students complete the program, and there is no one to help place them? Not only will this cause compliance problems later, which likely does not matter when the problems are so immediate today, but it will only be a matter of time before the current students know that they will be getting little, if any, assistance on completion. Unfortunately my internal contacts are dwindling (=RIF/Quit/Fired), so I don't expect to get reliable information much longer. Other than over-paid low-wage worker, who would go work for them?

The last offer made to a 15+ year law enforcement "recruitment officer" who also was a veteran and had a double masters was $20.00. This was for an instructor position in a linear program. Needless to say this severed our ties with recruitment and testing and served as a slap in the face but to top it off my campus president had the nerve to ask me if he had reconsidered. I guess you just can't fix stupid.

Why is $50K an insult for somebody with a soft degree from a third rate institution?

Wow!! $25 for a Master's degree??? Maybe the problem is CCI was paying all the money to Admissions and not the educators/administrators aka the educated folk! I don't have a degree and can't imagine putting up with this for less $$. If anything it isn't enough.

The new, uneducated, inexperienced workers don't know how to make it happen.

There never has been any competent or legitimate effort to help CCi graduates find jobs. "Placement" has always been about pretense and falsification. That goes back for many years so most students are likely aware of it.
