I spent over 14 years with Merck and was let go. The process was handled fairly and I knew I was on the chopping block. Merck downsizes all the time and you'll know if your time will come soon - stay assured, nobody gets surprised even though some people on this layoff site would like to have think that people do know. I was somewhat happy that I had to go as the package was fairly decent and I simply needed a break. Here at Merck you will find very heavy workload that simply never stops. The sales force is stressed to the maximum, there is a lot of responsibility on everyone's plate and people crack all the time. Employees are pressed to continuously produce more and many of the goals are simply unrealistic.

Why is it unrealistic to ask people to deliver more
