Thread regarding Corinthian Colleges Inc. layoffs

Why

Posters, senators, attorney generals, and others keep saying what the for-profits are doing is against the law, unlawful, illegal or a crime.

All the investigations and charges are under civil law seeking monetary penalties.

Not one criminal investigation. Not one criminal proceeding. Not a single person charged. Don't blame the management blame the corporate game???

Selling golf clubs to a man with no arms is criminal? So sad he cannot give the gift of golf clubs.

If the man with no arms is in one of certain categories, selling him golf clubs might be a crime. If he is over a certain age, the seller may be guilty of exploitation of the elderly, which is a felony in some states.

Not everything they are being investigated for is illegal. A lot are about company ethics. Is selling a $1,000.00 set of golf clubs to a man with no arms illegal because you tell him these clubs will improve his game? NO, but is it unethical? YES! It's not much different when CCi enrolls a student that has no basic math skills and can't read or write. If CCi would have had an entrance exam for all schools, they may not as deep in trouble as they are. It's called practicing what you preach!

Certain people seem to think everything CCi does is criminal.

The corporation does what the corporate directors and corporate officers tell it to do.

The corporate directors and officers can be charged and held responsible (convicted) for criminal acts and behavior.

It seems the last poster is not aware of basic law. Directors and management can't always hide behind the corpation.

Are you going to throw a corporation in prison? It seems safe to assume you aren't a legal instructor.
