I left two years ago. I doubt that things are different now. Nepotism ran deep in some groups (husband-wife, uncle/auntie-nephew/niece, manager-best friends/friends of close friends/friends of managers' wives/husbands etc etc) and of course Bay-Area style: indians only hire indians

no one is safe! everyone is dispensable, even the CEO! When you work for someone else, you don't have any control over your paycheck. Period. There are too many first-timers in engineering. They have never worked anywhere else besides this company. It will be tough for them to find another job most likely if they get cut. Honestly, I wouldn't hire people like them as they lack in many areas. Stop dreaming that you are untouchable!

I do not think there will be any moves against our resources - AT&T may have a strong PMO group or development capabilities, but most of the stuff that we do is different and if we have overlaps we are probably better skilled in those areas. I think Engineering is safe, I think we'll see some executives leave, I think we'll see some locations change and we'll be changing procurement and finance processes, other than that I think there will be no change...

i think most of the development taking place in el segundo will be gone. att has rigid and strong pmo, i think our pmo will be gone, all eng will be restructured
