Thread regarding Chesapeake Energy Corp. layoffs

Typically HR has a dual mandate, one two protect the company and the second to help employees. In my experience and my colleagues they have been extremely combative lately and of very little help. Supposedly they have open permission to fire anyone under VP level without prior permission for any reason they choose because of the whole at-will state in Oklahoma. Talked to my friends at the billoards and the tower and this is not how things are done there or how employees are treated. Also heard mgmt say contracts would be honored but actions of course speaking louder there so not surprised. I am doing final interview at the billboards this week, and getting an offer letter from direct competitor later this week. There are many good people left at CHK, I just can't stomach the transparency and respect speeches yet see my colleagues lied to and disrespected repeatedly. On a brighter note, during buyouts typically the entire HR staff is laid off..gotta think positive right. I won't be giving a two weeks notice just to get escorted out immediately, would be very willing to but again the current things I am seeing are just not becoming of a top tier company. I'll take a few weeks of PTO, to start working my new job and then wham. Guess that's how it goes. This is my first and last post hear but my heart goes out to the hard working employees left behind as no one deserves to be treated like this, live in fear of HR, live in fear of a layoff or a buyout.
