Blue Bell office Downsizing

I think we let go over a 100 people over last few days. This round of Aetna cuts includes case managers, they got notices on Wednesday (Blue Bell office) - I am not sure how many were cut. The rumor is that round 50% of supervisors were cut and there were around 20 supervisors over there. Each sup had around 20 people in her or his team. This all connects Coventry Health Care acquisition, the deal closed back in Spring of 2013, we already had some cuts because of this but 2014 will probably be even worse. After the merger we have around 50K employees, so unless we laid off thousands (which I doubt) the overall percentage of the workforce being let go is fairly small. I hear that the sups were treated with respect (which is not always the case) and they had options to jettison right away or to stay until this Friday. I also heard that some folks may be kept through March as they will need to transition work. At the same time, greed of our executives is immense, Bertolini took home 36 million last year plus over ten million in stock awards which will vet with time and will be tied to financial performance. This is very shameful, downsizing and job cuts at one side, and immense wealth being taken out of company's balance sheet for more than an average CEO with very little touch with reality.
