According to press reports from Cabela's they fired full time employees according to seniority. But at the Allen store there were exceptions to that, they fired some good sales employees who had been there since that store opened, yet kept some butt kissers and deadwood who hadn't been there as long. They let some really good sales people go. This will hurt them in the long run. Many Cabela's employees were also long-time Cabela's customers with large extended families that are also Cabela's customers, and this stuff is going to catch up to them. My word-of-mouth talk about Cabela's for the next 20 years sure isn't going to be the same as it has been for the last 20 years, as I have become very disillusioned with the company as I found out what the company was really like. They may have improved this current quarter's financial results by doing this but they may also have done damage to the company's reputation that will hurt them for many years to come. If top level management is as dumb as store level management then this will probably turn out to be a screw up.

You bet that in corporate America when lay offs come and so do the BONUSES.
I always thought that if you lay off people you aren't doing well enough to give BONUSES!
