Thread regarding Sabre Holdings layoffs

Too bad that such a great company does this again.

I love this company as many employees and former employees do. That being said, I believe that the heirarchical organizational model of this company, coupled with the trashing of competencies that take years to develop (firing of people that know their products in-depth and replacing them with people who are cheaper but take two or three years to train to be minimally-competent), and the misallocation of resources (easy departments vs. overwhelmed departments) must cost them more in creativity, problem-solving, customer service, sales, and in the end, revenue, than they save cutting off heads and shuffling positions from country to country. I've heard some of the most committed, competent, productive and trustworthy employees say, "cheap bastards!" under their breath, and have seen many a face aghast at some of the nonsensical decisions taken by those in control. In the end, this wonderful company will be seen by customers and employees alike as a pariah, and no hype, branding, not to mention, level of secrecy (i.e., confidentiality agreement, etc.) will be able to remedy that.
