I was laid off in April, 2010 by Raytheon Missile Systems (RMS) in Tucson, AZ. 200+ employees were laid off. Mostly younger folks were let go. I think RMS laid off younger employees because younger ones can not sue for age discrim. Most older employees there are military service veterans or people just looking for day to go by, and I think they do not contribute much. There are smart engineers and technician among them and you can learn lots from but most of them already think they are retired oralmost retired. They do not want to learn anything new, they do not want to solve anything new they might not be good at. Simply, they as a group do not contribute too much to the company in comparing to somewhat younger peers. Oh, I should not start about politics they play in the company. It was pretty much horrible environment to work in - believe me they discriminate against young people, and most younger employees leave RMS after several years anyway.
