My alternatives were Hulu+ ($8/month), NetFlix ($8/month), and a Netgear Wifi HD streaming device. Sports? I only watched basketball. I purchased NBA League Pass for my 5 favorite teams. News? I read online news primarily. I have saved thousands! Most of my friends cut the cord also.
