Business is tough, education is a business regardless of tax status. If you want security then work for the government. This company had been good to me for 17 years and if my time comes then so be it. None of us are entitled to employment, it is earned and yes it evolves. Everyone I have known that had been laid off had found better positions, it is just another life process. For the reasonable people on this board you will probably understand this, for the entitled trophy babies you will just continue to whine.
