YRC Freight, a subsidiary of YRC Worldwide Inc. (Nasdaq: YRCW), may lay off as many as 491 workers in St. Louis, according to a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification act notice filed with the state of Missouri on Monday.
The Overland Park-based less-than-truckload carrier’s WARN filing, necessitated by a federal law requiring employers to give workers a 60-day advanced notice of plant closings and mass layoffs, said 491 employees will be affected as part of a layoff in St. Louis City County, Mo.
The “layoff or closing date” is listed as May 12, 2013.
