From a 5yr employee, first make sure you have other job offer in hand and written etc if its with one of the other operators. Second, I went to my boss "boss, I really love working here but realize that they may have to let some people go. I am single and could move elsewhere to help those with families out if need be, so I'm willing to take one for the team if need be and sorry I can't do more to help you or others" or something along those lines. Finally do not tell anyone you have another job lined up as they will probably take that as you leaving and try to cheat you out of severance even though you are doing them a favor and helping make the quick decisions they are incapable of. I was hinted at a 3month severance, with cash equivalent for all stock and 401k but of course nothing is guaranteed. Right decision for me, but very risky. I have a paidoff junk box called a car I drive around and I rent a room cheaply so I am flush with cash on hand because I was prepped for a bad time. If you have a family or bills I wouldn't recommend this approach, but I'm taking charge of my career.
