Everyone who got laid off got a severance package. None of the line level admissions representatives were laid off at any site. They laid off director levels & up. 70 people were laid off, out of thousands of staff. It's part of an attempt to save 15M dollars this fiscal year.
This company has so many admissions reps making way over $20 an hour to sit on the phone all day. Many of the "higher paid veteran" staff have a GED or high school diploma... Where else can you go without a degree and make that much money.
I definitely think they need to trim the fat to stay profitable. iRe better to make changes as needed then to just tank the whole company and everyone losses their job.
Yeah it sucks they laid people off. There should have been more foresight used when setting budgets that were forecasting over 20% enrollment gains. They guy responsible for that leadership resigned as he should have.
At least the students who enroll are trying if they can't make it, they can't make it. They had a chance. If you took out the scummy ass stipend check chasing students the numbers would look better. Someone has to take the dumb students no one else wants and give them a chance right.
A 35yr old man who has never had an email address and hasn't ever heard of Microsoft Word... Trying to enroll in an online college sounds crazy... It is.
