I agree with the previous post. Elderly and others, that obviously will not be able to pay back loans, may be entitled to advancing their education. If they qualify for grants that need not be paid back then fine.. But not by loans, that even with additional education, they obviously can never even begin to pay back.
The problem is the way the government allows the loans to be reviewed and regulated. They do not qualify the individuals in determining whether they can pay back. They leave it to the schools to determine a pay back percentage based on the total number of students paying back.
Yes the schools take advantage but the government is complicit. They know the formula is flawed but they do nothing to remedy the problem.
