Thread regarding Manulife Financial Corp. layoffs

If you're still at Manulife right now it's time to jump ship, the company's dead

If you're still at Manulife right now it's time to jump ship, the company's dead. Upper management is incompetent, middle management (or whatever's left) is too scared of losing their jobs to do anything useful, and the enormous crew of VPs is mostly useless & sometimes borderline dangerous.

Getting to see first hand how people are treated at Manulife was shocking. I've certainly never had more promised and less delivered, something that I get the feeling is common. But worst of all is the sneaky, disgusting way that jobs are being outsourced. And make no mistake, it's outsourcing. Or rather offshoring, if you prefer. It's even referred to as "offshoring" in internal documents, despite the minor technicality of most jobs going to Asian divisions of Manulife. Everyone in upper management is acutely aware of what it is that's being done.

If you've made the right friends you'll be richly rewarded. If not, it's game over. Anyone saying that Org Design is over, is lying.

What I don't understand is how Manulife has avoided a shareholder revolt. The profits aren't there, the company's performance borders on terrible, and the sheer wasting of cash resources is BRUTAL. Can't comment on the insanely generous clothing allowances for many, but the executive dining room at 200 Bloor is quite nice, incredibly expensive to run, and the menu is obscene. As is their level of travel arrangements including a separate branch of travel planning/assistance staff, with parallel infrastructure and vastly different rules.

Manulife = no direction, no clue, and probably no hope.
