The intent is to not provide a severance. What person would risk the chance of being fired? Especially good employees? The goal is to put people on bogus PIPs as a measure to cut headcount. PIPed person finds a job and gives the company a middle finger. The company owes that person nothing. Boom. Objective completed. I know someone that had a meeting with the Agent of Doom in the HR dept. They offered a month for each year if the person left right then and there. Along with the statement that there was NOTHING that person could do to save their job. Who could make a good decision under those circumstances? Puck it! Fire me! A dirty game that sigma Aldrich is playing...
