I recently had a recruiter ask me about Everest Institute. He started out with, “what do they teach medical assistants there”. I asked “why”, he responded with, “Well we consider them the bottom of the barrel, and don’t place any of them. Most come here, can’t take vitals, their skills horrible, and the caliber of the graduated is, well not desirable”.
I am also hearing from employers, that “we have had problems with Everest interns”, “they don’t show up”, “make all sorts of excuses”, “steal from us”. On employer told me that one intern used his computer to make a drug deal while on duty”. The consensus is pretty clear, and in Michigan, Everest Institute graduates have a difficulty time finding a job, let alone keeping it.
