Lay-offs are always horrible and happen daily--http://www.dailyjobcuts.com. After working with co-workers for years they become extended family members. Venting is a normal part of the process. Also, those left behind are mentally suffering because there are no concrete answers to satisfy one question – how did we get here? Those who have the answer are not concerned because their life was not impacted. They still live in their million dollar homes. They look at us as pawns in a game of chess. Unless they are forced to live a day in our shoes they will never understand or have the ability to empathize. I suppose the reason why including myself is using this blog as a venue to vent is because we know that most Americans are 2 paychecks away from being homeless. We know are friends who were laid-off will need to find replacement jobs with the same salary or more to prevent their home from going into foreclosure, before using college savings funds to pay for monthly expenses, and before marriages are destroyed. The leaders of Apollo group/University of Phoenix should be FIRED ASAP. This leadership team who sent out that ridiculous video on Friday hand-picked each person for each of the following positions, regional vice president, territory vice president, campus directors, directors of enrollment, regional directors of enrollment, and enrollment managers. The choices they made were very personal these were NOT business decisions. These leaders chose them because they could talk about hunting, fishing, golf, extreme fighting, spending time in the military, and so on. The women were chosen because they had the perfect look which included the male leaders being sexually attracted to them. Stop and look at the old leadership team and the current leadership team they are ALL friends. They chose leaders who could not DO their job. Doing their job includes coaching, developing, and motivating advisors to do their very best every day. We all know why an enrollment advisor enrolls less than 2 students a month, because none of the latter happened at all or very little. Doing your best does not include being an absentee manager. Doing your best does not include taking long lunches, arriving to work late, leaving work early, working a 30 hour work week, and unnecessary conferences and traveling. This poor leadership has impacted so many advisors. This poor performing leadership team has impacted so many people and tainted the image of University of Phoenix. The employees left behind are searching for jobs. Who expects that any employee can work for a company that is unskilled in the competencies of communication, leadership courage, planning, strategic agility, and INTEGRITY? Shame on ALL of you for failing the employee, student, and stake holders – I respectfully ask for all of your resignations TODAY!!!!!!
