I feel sick that so many people lost their jobs recently. Of course there are more changes to come. I work on the new National Coverage Team and there are plans right now for online advisors to start enrolling ground (at least on the Coverage Team). Nothing against ground advisors in general, but the number of students that were transferred to Coverage and that we attempted to send back to ground that were never worked is high. Some of that was the fault of the ACC and some was at the campus level.
The leadership in Coverage made the case that we could better service these students based on that and we are now going to start a beta for enrolling ground.
Unfortunately there was an attitude by some that Coverage would be the catch all and many people did not answer their phones for a long time (both online and ground included). We got absolutely slammed for months (25-30 inbound calls per day) but our leadership told us that it would eventually be noticed by the higher ups. I think the decision to let us start enrolling ground is the recognition that it's been "noticed".
