Heald College is in a load of hurt

Heald College is in a load of hurt. First they lose Cal Grant eligibility then Heald incorrectly claims that they will be reeligible in July 2013. The state tells Heald that you have to wait until July 2014 and the maximum grant goes down from $9,200 to $4,000. Prospective sucker (oops students) call up their counselors after being told by recent Heald graduates that they can't find jobs. Heald instructors being harassed on a daily basis about "student retention". Keep making those daily phone calls to "round up the cattle". A typical Heald with 1200 bodies will graduate about 30%. Of the approximately 400 graduates at best only a 100 will find ANY job even closely related to their field of study. Most Heald students (if they can be called out) walk out of the "Get In, Get Out, Get Ahead" experience as "Get In, Get Out, Get student loan debt, Get unemployed". Heald management is telling CCI big shots "Don't blame us. California threw us a curve ball that we can't catch being the loss of Cal Grants. We will do O.K. with our new B.S. programs". Heald wants to start their BS programs as soon as possible so that the current students can "time out" with continuing studies so their student loans won't be considered in default. Everyone in the administration has these wild "pie in the sky" revenue expectations for their BS programs without apparently considering the costs. While the BS business programs won't have much of a startup cost, the BS nursing program at Fresno will have significant costs. Even worse is that Fresno State University offers a MS and PhD in nursing, and Fresno State University BSN graduates are having trouble getting a job upon graduation. If it was not so sad to see the waste of time and money then it would be comial. Go to Heald get your AAS (Associates in Applied Science) then after getting your AAS get sold another 7 "general ed" courses for $10K which might transfer to CSU. After getting your AA degree along with finding out that you can't find a job and the vast majority of units won't transfer stay at Heald to get your BS degree because employers are demanding "better education qualifications"
