The HR outsourcing deal is plain stupid - I used to work for a large corp who did this and I can tell you that we may be better off by just replacing all HR personnel with computers or websites. The quality is poor and after one or two calls or discussions with India you simply give up and never call again as they are incompetent, they do not get the business, they do not get a cultural component, they just do not get it. It'll take them 5 years to actually start to be marginally useful, by that time everyone will be so ticked off that the plans for pulling the function back and reestablishng HR capability over here will start to form. Let's see what's going to happen, but I can tell you one thing - our folks were not super happy with HR, but it worked and I think we appreciated what they did - now, with India coming into play, it's a different story (GM is in the process of bringing back EVERYTHING that they sent to India - took them 7 years but they finally figured it out - this is not just GM - many, many companies are doing this).
