FDIM is a good school, if you are talented you will get solid skills here and also being in So Cal it will provide you with an OK network of contacts if you want to get a job in a company that has to with fashion or design. On the other side, it's very expensive so you need to be careful to pick carefully what your major is how you will be leading your career as you need to be making money to pay off students loans you'll likely be required to take (some students have wealthy parents so this is not an issue but for most students paying for school is really hard). I am not sure about layoffs as it seems that the school is doing pretty well - I did not see any drop in student interest over last couple of years, so I can, based on my observations, state that there is threat of losing the job to the employees here.
