Heald had problems even before CCI. No doubt CCI makes the matter even worse. CCI is debating how to handle the 150th Anniversary celebration of Heald because if you start touting the past success stories especially those prior to WW II then you bring attention to your current and future failures.
CCI is being to run scared with the entire Heald franchise after spending $500 million. CCI sold off 4 Heald campuses for $40 million and is leasing them back for $3.5 million a year.
The word has gotten out on the street that Heald is a big ripoff. The faculty are pretty tired of teaching and they are around only to collect a paycheck. $2000 to teach a course is peanuts and one adjunct faculty instructor ended up taking a job over at the retail mall as the pay was better and a lot less hassle.
The management at Heald won't come out and publicly say it but they are extremely concerned that the franchise may not survive. The plans to do a Heald online along with a BS degree have been canceled. Any real job in the locations that Heald teaches require a BS degree and Heald credits for the most part don't transfer.
