Wow, all these changes...i recently moved out of state and quit because there were no open positions for a transfer. After talking to personnel where I live now, she told me to go ahead and reapply for apparel, shoes/jewelry and fitting room, even though the site said no open positions. I passed the assessment, called back, and she said she would get back to me. I still haven't heard back and now I'm wondering what's going on. Would they really get rid of apparel? I wouldn't think so, but anything is possible I guess.
Tariffs impacting GM profit.
Probably getting rid of the apparel areas. No manager ever visits that area in our store and actually refuses to work in clothing. We know that managers exist because of other associates talking about them----but we think they're ninjas because we never see a manager.
This sounds plausible - the previous SM at my location said that some store buildings are going to have a much smaller sales floor (he talked about some buildings being used as half store/half distribution center). Many GM items will likely become online-only.
I don’t think he is lying. We will have to wait and see.
