Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

If Avaya still supports Partners/Merlins/Legends there's no hope. One of the last jobs I did for Avaya was on a Definity Audix. Hello! The damn thing backs up to a CASSETTE tape! Talk about being stuck in the eighties. Whats next token/ring?

Do Avaya technicians work on Com Keys still?? That's all these old guys know.

We made a packet from changing handsets and are very happy doing it.

Blessed, another foolish comment. In todays world when some GCA's have zero or 1 assigned technician you can not have a c---y old man sitting in a dedicated account who only knows how to change phone cords. We need to have skilled technicians who can do other work assignments as well. Avaya has at least 25 technicians that have 45+ years with the company who don't even know how to turn a laptop on. They literally do not know how to plug a usb cable into a laptop or how to change the ip address of their laptop. I mean seriously. The last decade at Avaya was like a country club for these guys, now its time to get them to retire finally, i suggest vision tests, if they fail then no company car, in some areas that's a condition of employment, i would also suggest managment put them on an out of service S8800 and make them install the software needed etc. Trust me after a few of those jobs they would quit, nevermind the 2 years pay. You can't honestly say we can afford to have a workforce like this anymore, we can't sustain it. All the big accounts that supported the dead wood like Home Depot's are gone. Management NEEDS to get the technicians out of dedicated accounts and on the streets. That will solve the problem, i guarantee it.

I get it. Believe me. I was an Avaya tech once. You can't beat them so you either join them or find another job. Which is what I did. I was fed up with working with a bunch of folks who couldn't care less about the company, or the customers, or even their fellow employees, they we're out for one thing and one thing only, themselves. I was young, willing to travel and learn, so I found another job. When I feel like getting nostalgic I read these blogs. Amazing how nothing has changed at Avaya. Actually sounds like it's gotten worse.

If management just gave the old folks the REAL work they'd be running for the door. Instead they hide and coddle them. No idea why.

Listen about Grandpa's financial situation, that furthers my point. The guy probably does need the money with 45 years on the job, because he was dumb with his decisions, actions etc. If he hasnt figured out how to manage a 1600 a week base salary when he paid a whopping 65k for his house what's another 2 years gonna do for him, oh wait probably get him in more trouble. These guys cant be taught. Get them out, i have a job and family and am willing to learn and travel. Not trying to be mean but management needs to wake up and do something because its all our jobs at stake. Get Grandpa a rocking chair and his pension and let him reflect on how he wasted his life on a EASY job.
