Thread regarding IBM layoffs

Why do you get RA’ed?

You need to ask yourself that question... if you are not directly billable or in Sales and at least achieving your quotas, then you are costing money to the company. In times of never ending decreasing revenues the only option is for you to be RA’ed so that IBM can get the profit up. This is a simple equation unfortunately.

IBM still need to shed 100K people.

Last year GBS RA'ed people who were ON BILLABLE PROJECTS. They offered these people the "opportunity" to join some subsidiary of Manpower who would continue to bill them out at their current clients in exchange for a lump sum payment to IBM. They didn't count on 1) these people didn't want to work for Manpower and 2) clients didn't want to pay IBM rates to a bodyshop. It was a disaster all around. Many of those affected were "millenniums" by the way.

I agree with ZrxzwMF-pwp. Some of best smart people who are managing billable customers were let go. They were best of the best and I can't even imagine and not able to digest how IBM management can do that kind of stupid mistake.smart people make company grow. This is master -plan of k--ling one with slow death.

In Miami for Hundred Percent Club one day. RAed the next day. Such is the situation at IBM. And they still write articles about why IBM is losing revenue each quarter.

A lot of revenue producers and deliverers were RAed on June 6th. This was not fat. This was the best of the best in many cases.

It has a very 'Enron-ish' feeling. Somewhere there are people who must be so smart that no one else can figure what their genius plan is with what happened today. But clients who have a critical need on the service products from IBM will not have any support going forward in many areas.

RAs in IBM have very little to do with who brings in the revenue - I have known people meeting and exceeding quota who have been RAed - IBM is a caustic, horrible culture and is symptomatic of the cancer plaguing large poorly managed business with poor managerial ethic - starting right at the top.

It's not, otherwise the person who does nothing but send emails about pot lucks and town halls would have been RA long ago.

I have to agree with that statement. I bring in 55K of service revenues most months and I really don’t see how IBM could/would lay me off unless they truly have a final death wish.

At the end of the days it just economics.
