Thread regarding Acosta Mosaic Group layoffs

More Lay Offs 6/3/2019

Acosta informed a big group of 70 merchandisers were let go on a conference call on 5/30.

They were given 1 day notice that their last day was 5/31.

Another group was told that their hours were reduced from 40 to 28 hours.

Does anyone know if this is legal?

You are not protected by anyone or anything in thus low paying out of date company. They can fire you on the spot. For the poor saps that are actually doing a good job, there is no recognition, no raises....ever.

Of course it's legal. No one guarantees you a job. And I agree; time to find a real job.

Been working in this industry for over 20 years and this is the MO for most merchandising companies. They have a tendency to take on more than they can handle and wind up burning everyone in the end.Lets face it,todays version of merchandising is just play money at best, nothing to live on.

Its time to find a real job, good luck with that, becuase you are going to need it.

Acosta is on its last legs, no future there.

I just think the whole "brand name " industry has tanked...not really acostas fault (I was laid off too)...no one cares if the product has a familiar name anymore. ..they buy whats cheapest. ..ive noticed the younger shoppers wont buy anything from mexico, india or china because of contamination worries. .so maybe big brand names should start putting "made in America " or "made in canada" in large letters
