Walmart Recruiting College Grads

I heard the company is going to college campuses and recruiting recent college grads to put into the People Lead roles. YOU have got to be kidding me. They would rather hire college grads and NOT promote those PC/TC's who have so much knowledge and HR experience? Just another way to get rid of long term associates

all current PC and TC's have to reapply for People Lead role. No one is guaranteed a position. Internal associates AND external applicants can apply for the People LEad role. Good luck to all.

Long term HR associates literally do nothing and are a waste of payroll. Out with the old and in with the young!

Hiring on the cheap is the trend now. We're in a time when nobody anywhere wants to pay anyone anything----literally. It's a level of greed I've never seen before.

@ 1gkz, I voiced a similar thought -----and it WAS REMOVED. Even tho we're both only speaking the truth. Finding out more and more how bullsh!t biased the admin. of this page is.

Will be tough on someone fresh out of college to have the patience to figure out all of the tricks to make the buggy software applications work. Also, to teach the other employees how to self utilize it. They should know that freight is the number one priority for their business partners at the store and not HR.

You do realize you get what you pay for. I pay for quality versus quantity! How can Walmart hire new college grads who have ZERO HR experience? An associate wants an answer and the right answer from someone who knows what the hell they are doing! It takes along time to develop basic HR knowledge. You just cannot learn it overnight! Associates want an answer, and the RIGHT answer from someone they trust. Walmart can do whatever they want but in my opinion, they will never fill all People Lead positions with what they are requiring. Go ahead, shove out the long term associates who know what they are doing and pay new college grads a lower wage. Like I said, you get what you pay for. I understand People Lead is a new role. Yah, I get it, but for those PC/TC's who have the basic HR knowledge about Walmart, I believe in my heart they deserve a shot at this new role. Don't just shove them out because they are "long term" associates. They know a hell of a lot more than ANY college grad!

But you do acknowledge that Walmart can hire a recent college grad for much less money than you earn, correct?

Many of us ARE EDUCATED, MOTIVATED and SMART and are long term associates WITH HR DEGREES.YES and we are OPEN MINDED as well. WE DO HAVE TECH SAVVY SKILLS and have people skills to boot. Don't put all of us in one basket and "generalize" who we are and what we are. Getting rid of "OLD" people is called age discrimination and against the law in case you didn't know HR LAWS.

Don't generalize that we are all unmotivated and don't want to learn.

Yall are gonna be mad in a sec; sorry for that in advance.

As a former long termer, I understand the culture / environment of that business on a store level well enough to know this plan actually makes some sense. Think about it: let's examine the average l.t. employee. Been there 100 years, not probably well educated, not probably very motivated, not probably real interested in learning new things. Add in, they're getting old = poor health and, y e s, they are making much more money than a new hire.

Now let's look at the average college student / graduate: Young, hungry, fresh educated, open minded and willing to learn even more tech savy skills than they've already far and away got ahead of older Walmart employees. Plus you can start them for significantly less money than the old employees.

Purely from a profit : loss perpective, a company would be stupid not to give this a try. Not nice------but neither is capitaism.

Can someone outside of Walmart tell me what schedule their HR people work? Do they work 3 weekends out of the month? Late nights and early mornings?.

There are plenty of great PC/TC's floating around. However, there are also plenty of them that do little more than breathe in between bites from their slop trough that is supposed to be a desk. This is their chance to week those out. Especially ironic since so many hourly people thought it was all fun and games when the Co-Managers were purged. How's it feel now that it's come for you?

This doesn’t surprise me in the least! It used to be an honor to be a long-term associate. Now, it’s nothing more than a curse!
