Thread regarding Xerox Corp. layoffs

Medical coverage

Can't see if this was asked and answered: what is the best medical coverage option for people who've been laid off until they can find a new job?

If making a general search, MAKE SURE your search engine is pulling a .gov site not ACA.org. I was an id--t and was duped. I purchased expensive insurance for myself/family. I was too dense to catch my error until I had my taxes done and the ‘ACA’ reps refused to provide the required paperwork, telling me to calculate it myself. 😡

If you’re in the Rochester NY area, go to the MVP office located at the corner of Alexander and Monroe Avenue. Meet with one of the consultants and they will guide you through the process and present you the best options. Bring any paperwork that may be helpful and your old insurance card and ID.

I agree. I looked at Cobra and individual private coverage and the Affordable Care Act was best.

When I was laid off, I had three plan options from ACA and picked what was best for me. I used the insurance for an unexpected colon issue and an other family medical emergency and it definitely saved me until I could get back to work. I’m glad I had insurance.

ACA

Healthcare.gov

Apply to see your costs given your specific circumstances.

You don’t have to wait until end of year. You have a qualifying event.

Xerox COBRA is too steep.
