Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Those outside don't know how bad it is internally

My wife works in GM Purchasing and is planning to travel abroad in a couple weeks - a much needed vacation for her.

Last week, her manager threatened to not allow her to use vacation because there may be no one to cover for her (due to the recent staffing reduction).

Wife has been doing senior-level work at mid-tier pay for the last 2 years now and was looked over for a couple promotions in favor of people who befriended the decision makers. After this year's layoff, she is pulling the weight of another team member who was released. She literally hates her job now and has aspirations to leave in a couple months.

I just wanted to highlight how bad it is at GM now and provide some insight to the things that aren't covered by the media.

I was managing four key high profile programs, never saw it coming. Months later I hear they have 4-5 people working on what I delivered at 100% on. Never could trust GM again, it's a business being run by a foolish person.

Well your fantastic GM Management got rid of the good folks now there stuck doing work they are not qualified to do, not efficient, good ole boys and girls looking at each other. GM is digging its hole deeper and deeper. Soon bankruptcy will follow again. Your stock price is stagnant. Total dependence on self driving cars just ain't gonna cut it.

Same with me, my daughter and now my beautiful fiance. Continue to pray for all of us not only at GM past,present and future but now, along with all the folks at Ford, they are having a hell of a time now too.

I am sure all of us here on this site hope you're wife enjoys her vacation. Yes the media hasn't covered much of anything of value. What about all the contract folks, what happened to them?
