Underutilized 401K

Underutilized 401K. many of the people I talk with do not actively put in money into the 401k to make sure they get the company max match. this adds up really fast. the company s---s, but this is a good deal.

None of those companies with a 6% match have a defined benefit pension. In fact, less than 10% of companies still offer a DB pension. Besides only high paid employees would have the disposal income to approach a 6% match. And in the 401k the investor shoulders the return potential unlike the pension that is guarantees the ultimate payment regardless of investment climate. Be careful what you wish for.

401k at SF is terrible. Max $1200 per year from the company? Most places do at least a 6% match.
